Hello Sketchers!

I am preparing the reopening of
the Registration of Sketch Like The Pros Design course.

To help you build your motivation and self-confidence,
I want to show you that:

Anyone who starts as a true-beginner can succeed.
No matter your age and initial skill.

Lucas is a great example as a 15 year old student only.

Lucas Hippolyte (15yo) – 3 months rocket progression with [Sketch Like The Pros] course

Remember, if you want to progress, you CAN’T practice blindly every day.
There are 2 ingredients to the “Recipe of success”. You need:

How Lucas made exponential progress

Let me share with you more about Lucas story and great results with Sketch Like The Pros.
Lucas looked for the past 3 years without success information about ‘How to learn sketching’.

He wants to become de Designer since he’s 12 years old.
And he finally started to make significant progress with The Design Sketchbook’s blog tutorials.

To keep level up his skills,
he decided to join ‘Sketch Like The Pros’ Design course,
where he made an exponential jump of progress in just 3 months! 🙂

Note: Sketch Like The Pros design course registration will reopen for few days only! Stay tuned! I will give you all the details by email very soon.

Make sure you register to the Waiting list to get all the informations needed on time.

Lucas is the youngest and one of the most determined members.

He keeps improving along the weeks going through the lessons and exercises delivered.
Sketch Like The Pros is a 12-month design course (with my personal VIP Feedbacks).

Lucas Hippolyte has already sent me a few pictures (see below) he made –
that makes a huge contrast with 3 months earlier when he just started.

He made a big step in his progress. He can be proud of them. (And I am).

Of course, it is not yet stabilized
he will need to keep going and carry on exploring to integrate his new techniques and discoveries.

I love this feeling when you look at your sketch
and realize you’ve just leveled up.

You surprise yourself like you got a new superpower! Haha.

But it’s not the time to rest on its laurels!
Lucas took his first big improvement as a motivation boost to challenge the next big thing.

Lucas lines or not shy neither hesitant anymore. They are fluid and expressive.

There are still so many great techniques to learn! Smile
Lucas is taking this path.

Flashback: 3 months ago

When Lucas just started the course.
He kept sketching and filled more than 100 pages in 1 month only of:

To communicate with my students is easy.
We went through all of his practice pages to fix his mistakes on the go.

To give him my 1-to-1 VIP personal feedback,
Lucas just need to upload his drawings on his dedicated folder,
so I can correct on top of them using my Wacom tablet.

First sketches:

The first practice of circles, a fundamental movement to master. As I said, Lucas started like any beginner.

A nice printer in perspective, but still looks “childish”

3 months after

Lucas already reached the next level! Smile

His previous drawings of clumsy circles become now beautiful cylinders in perspective!

Random 3D volume

Below a method of “Random creativity” where you draw random lines first,
then add some contour lines to create 3D volumes.

I recommended using multiple reference pictures to get inspired.

For this exercise, we do not draw the reference product as it is.
We like to extract some details and assemble them in a total new way to create new things.

With fluid lines, you can draw faster and make a lot of new 3D form research in no time.

In this picture below,
Lucas gets inspired by the sketch I made in the video tutorial.
He fed his memory of forms and throw his lines with a great dynamic.

It is definitely encouraging, and I am pretty happy to see
his involvement is giving him results and confidence.

The lines are now fluid and expressive. We can feel the confidence and precision.

What Lucas should do next?

Keep exploring and fail as many times as he can.
So he will continue to build his thick skin and grow his skills.

Congrats Lucas. Keep going!

Feel free to leave your comments and questions to Lucas below,
I am sure he will be glad to answer you.

Or if you would like to get in touch with him by email, you can send me a message at choutac@thedesignsketchbook.com.

  • Hey Chou Tac!

I was wondering I can still enroll in your course? Is it still open or will it become open anytime soon???

    Thanks for the awesome emails,

    James

  • Hi Chou-Tac,

I have been looking over your course ‘sketch like a pro 4th edition’ and it looks like it could be exactly what I’m after.
Could I ask what material you need? I.e tablet, any 3D software etc.
Also, in regards to the self paced learning option, are the tutorials, videos and resources all available for life?

    Thank you for your time.

    • Hello Drew,

      How are you doing ?
The only material you need is a ball point pen, and A4 or A3 (recommended) paper.
For the ball point pen, wait for joining the course first before getting any. I will give you techniques to identify which one is good for you – depending if you have a heavy wrist or not.

Then for paper, I have a personal preference for laser printer paper. DOUBLE A brand 80g are cool !! The surface is super smooth.

For softwares and tablet, they are welcome. As long as the ball point pen is your core training, at least for the first modules.

For software I do recommend Sketchbook Pro. (many designers love it, me included), Mischief is nice also (many artists / Illustrator love it !)

You can study at your own pace. You can download all the videos to ca

And yes, you will have a lifetime access to the course as well.

I hope I did answer your questions.

Let me know if there is anything else I can help 🙂
